Summer Kick-Off Party with George Porter & Orgone

Summertime is just around the bend, and to celebrate it's arrival Nolafunk.com is bringing two of our favorite acts to Le Poisson Rouge. On Thursday June 2nd George Porter & Runnin' Pardners and Orgone will be bringing their unique styles of funk to New York City for a full on dance party that is sure to heat things up.

George Porter is a New Orleans legend and one of funk's most celebrated bass players. Having honed his chops with the legendary Meters, Porter has gone on to collaborate with everyone from Paul McCartney and Tori Amos to Steve Kimock, Bill Kreutzmann, and Warren Haynes. On June 2nd, Porter will perform with The Runnin' Pardners, a soul and funk quintet comprised of Porter on bass, Brint Anderson on guitar, Mike Lemmler on organ and keyboards, Khris Royal on sax and keys, and Terrance Houston on drums.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Orgone brings a different flavor of funk to the table. Orgone's music is rooted in a sense of soul, funk, afrobeat, and deep rhythms. The 9 piece band effortlessly fuses their instrumentation with singer Fanny Franklin's soulful vocals. The result is a full on funk dance party that takes the listener on a musical journey from the sound of Los Angeles to horn and percussion driven Lagos to a New York club and to the raw sounds of New Orleans.
